Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How much does it cost to become a member?
A: Membership packages can vary wildly depending on length of stay, number of rental companions, and add-ons. For these reasons, we do not list pricing on our website. If you are interested in a membership package, please contact us for a quote.

Q: How do I become a member?
A: BOOK NOW

Q: What happens if I’m dissatisfied with the bodies during my visit?
A: Motel Styx makes every attempt to match donated bodies to those who will love and enjoy them, however we cannot procure on demand and it is not unheard of for visits to be matchless. It is rare, however, due to the size of our refrigeration unit and our growing back catalog of bodies. We guarantee a memorable stay and will discuss refunds on a case-by-case basis.

Q: Can I cancel my membership?
A: Bookings are fully-refundable outside of one week prior to visit. If your selected dates for lodging no longer work for you, ask us about delaying your visit. If you would like to cancel, please call the number provided to you on your rental confirmation.

Q: Are gift memberships available?
A: Due to bookings being made as jokes, we do not allow second parties to book on the behalf of another. We do offer gift cards at our front desk in the lobby as well as in our gift shop. These do not expire, though they are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash value.

Q: How do I donate my body?
A: We accept body donations throughout the continental United States. Read our Donate Your Body page for more information or to begin the donation process.

Q: What will happen to my body?
A: After your passing, assuming it matches the criteria defined in your contract with us, your body will be collected by a county medical examiner and stored in the nearest cold facility while it awaits transfer. It will then be driven in a refrigerated semi-truck to our warehouse behind the motel. Once inside, our highly-trained staff will clean your body and prepare it for storage or use depending on specifications of guests staying at the motel at the time.

Q: If my body can’t be used, does my family receive it back?
A: Depending on the circumstances around your death, it may be determined that your body is not fit for the purposes of Motel Styx and its guests. We retain the right to refuse a body. At any point during the post-death process, if we decide your body is not fit for use, like everything else in the donation program: the choice is yours. We can arrange transportation to return your body for burial or cremation to a site of your choosing. Charges after transport must be paid for by your estate or remaining family. A refund of the purchase cost of your body will be given to the listed next of kin on your contract.
